Mei Sim Lai
Mei Sim Lai

Mei Sim is the Founder and Principal of LaiPeters & Co and Managing Director of the management and consulting firm LaiPeters Limited. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She is a member of the ACCA UK Small Business Committee and author of their publication on Flowcharting for Auditors and Accountants.

Of Malaysian Chinese origin, she has lived in the UK since 1970. From 1979 to 2005 she was a partner of the leading medium sized firm of City Chartered Accountants Pridie Brewster. Mei Sim has considerable experience and expertise in looking after the financial, business and tax affairs of SMEs and helping them to grow. She is similarly experienced and expert in servicing clients in the not-for-profit and regeneration sectors and set up that department at Pridie Brewster. Mei Sim also ran the Pridie Brewster/ACEVO financial helpline for Chief Executives of charities and voluntary organisations for 7 years until 2006..

Outside LaiPeters & Co, Mei Sim holds several Government, Charity and City appointments. These include running the City Branch of the Institute of Directors and their China Interest Group. In 2004 she was appointed an OBE for services to equal opportunities and in 2006 she was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London. She is now Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the Borough of Brent.

 

 
Ash Sharif

Ash Sharif qualified with PWC before joining Windsor Stebbing Marsh (WSM) as an audit manager. He continued his professional training and qualified as an Associate member of the Institute of Taxation in 1993 and subsequently assumed responsibility for the Firm's Tax Department

Ash become an equity partner in WSM in 1995 and was jointly responsible for its business development and marketing activities during his time there. He has considerable experience in providing ad hoc support to management teams within the SME sector as well as acting as 'virtual' Finance Director for those clients requiring a more 'hands on' involvement.

Ash became a partner in Pridie Brewster in 2005 merging his practice with Pridie Brewster a year later. He lives in Sutton and is married with three children.
Outside of work he enjoys playing squash, golf and watching football.
 
Roger Clement

Roger qualified in 1964 and joined Pridie Brewster in 1990.

His small firm experience means that he has a wide knowledge of owner-managed businesses and personal tax. Property companies have been his speciality and he heads up the Flat Management Company Department at Hampton. He is also a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners.

Roger lives in Sunbury on Thames and is married with three children. He is a keen sportsman and although his playing days are long gone, he continues to have a great interest in rugby. He regularly plays golf and hockey, the latter of which has presented him with the opportunities to explore various interesting parts of the world on Veterans Hockey Festivals.

 
Gareth Rees

Gareth was educated at Tiffin School, Kingston and University College London.

 He joined the London office of Pridie Brewster from university in 1979 as a trainee, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1982.

 He became a partner in the firm in 1985 dealing with a wide range of individuals, owner-managed businesses and not-for-profit organisations. In 2002 he became the firm’s Technical and Compliance partner.

Gareth left Pridie Brewster in 2004 to set up his own firm providing taxation and accounting services. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2005 and joined PB: Associates in 2006.

Gareth lives in Weybridge and is married with two children. Outside of work he enjoys travel, concerts, eating out and football (watching not playing!).
